At ERA Skin & Laser Clinic, you can be sure you will only ever be offered award-winning injectable treatment brands and medicines such as Restylane, Juvéderm, Azzalure, Botox and Profhilo. These products have excellent safety profiles and have been used to address the signs of ageing for many years.

* Botox and Azzalure are a prescription-only medicines which require an appropriate consultation with a medical professional to discuss all the available treatment options for lines and wrinkles where your suitability for botulinum toxin can be established and Dr Arora can prescribe and treat accordingly.

How It Works

Dermal fillers restore loss volume and improve skin quality using substances like hyaluronic acid which occurs naturally in the body.

Anti-wrinkle injections, often referred to by the brand Botox®, work by temporarily disabling the facial muscles that cause dynamic wrinkles (most specifically those associated with crow’s feet, forehead lines, and the frown lines between your eyes). Botulinum toxin does this by directly blocking the facial nerves that tell your muscles to contract.

What are the benefits of injectable dermal filler and botulinum toxin treatments?

  • Reduce the signs of ageing, including lines and wrinkles.
  • Replace loss volume to lift facial structures.
  • Improve facial contours and shape, improve skin laxity.
  • Augment and redefine lips.

FAQ's

What areas of the skin can be treated?

From the age of 20, you will start to lose natural collagen in your face. Collagen is abundant in children and is responsible for youthful glowing skin. The natural reduction in collagen, along with other environmental and lifestyle factors such as exposure to the sun, smoking and drinking alcohol is the reason why fine lines and wrinkles, loss of facial volume and skin laxity around the chin and neck area start to become noticeable, usually from the age of 35.

Injectable treatments help to address the signs of ageing using products which are injected under the skin to replace lost volume, prevent wrinkles, or improve overall skin quality.

Anti-wrinkle injections dramatically decrease line formation and can clear fine lines in the forehead and brow area.

Dermal fillers work by boosting the skin’s supply of hyaluronic acid; they revitalise and add volume to the skin, instantly diminishing the appearance of lines and wrinkles, and giving a natural softer look. Dermal fillers are a soft injectable gel consisting of stabilised, non-animal hyaluronic acid.

Lip fillers to create fuller lips or enhance the lip line are one of the most requested treatments here in Oxfordshire.

Botulinum toxin can also be used to treat migraines and hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating), therefore, if you suffer from either of these conditions, you can book a consultation with Dr Arora to discuss your diagnosis and suitability for treatment.

Will I need a consultation for injectable treatments like dermal fillers and Botox?

When it comes to facial ageing, everyone is different which is why a thorough consultation is so important.

During your consultation with Dr Gita Arora, your face will be assessed, looking at the symmetry and skin quality. You will be asked which areas you would like to see improvement, so that treatment options and expected outcomes can be discussed with you.

An initial consultation fee of £50 is payable upon booking. If you receive any treatment on the day of your appointment, this fee will be deducted from your treatment cost. Dr Arora runs a regular clinic and offers free online consultations for all new clients.

What can I expect during treatment?

During treatment, the injection sites will be marked by Dr Arora and treatment delivered with you sitting/lying on a treatment couch. She will assess you throughout the procedure to ensure that you are comfortable.

How long does injectable treatment take?

Treatment time varies depending on the size of the area and specific injectable treatments, but you can expect it to take 30-60 minutes.

How many treatment sessions are recommended?

We start with a single treatment session for dermal fillers and/or botulinum toxin. Repeat treatments to maintain the improvements to your appearance are required as the effects are temporary and begin to fade after several months. You may be called for a review appointment following your initial treatment to assess how well the injectables have responded in reducing wrinkles or settled to enhance volume and shape.

Are injectable treatments safe?

At ERA Skin & Laser Clinic, we only offer brands with excellent safety profiles that have been used to address the signs of ageing for many years like Restylane, Juvéderm, Azzalure, Botox and Profhilo.

What conditions are contraindicated for dermal fillers and Botox?

A full medical history will the taken by Dr Arora to ensure that there are no underlying medical conditions which could make you unsuitable for dermal fillers or botulinum toxin treatments, as well as known allergies.

If you are pregnant or breast feeding, you will not be able to have cosmetic injectable treatments.

Do dermal filler or Botox injections hurt?

Our doctor uses fine needles to deliver botulinum toxin treatments and most people do not feel any discomfort. Many of the dermal filler products used contain lidocaine, a local aesthetic which is injected at the same time as the filler to give a numbing effect. Topical numbing cream can also be used if required, or for sensitive areas such as the lips.

Is there downtime after an injectable treatment?

Downtime is minimal and usually short, depending on where you have received the injections, but you should expect some redness at the needle entry points, perhaps with some tenderness. Swelling is common after dermal fillers, especially in the lips. Dr Arora will explain everything in detail during your consultation.

When will I see results?

Results from dermal fillers are instantly visible and will improve as swelling goes down over 24-48 hours.

Botulinum toxin is a prescription medicine which takes a little time to activate within the skin. It can take up to weeks to see the full effects of the wrinkle relaxing and muscle movement reduction from this treatment.

How long does treatment last?

Treatment with dermal fillers last approximately 6-9 months, with anti-wrinkle injections with botulinum toxin lasting 3-6 months.

Who will carry out my dermal filler or Botox treatment?

Your injectable treatment will be prescribed and carried out by Dr Gita Arora, a GP with a special interest in Dermatology and over 10 years’ experience.
