Microblading in Oxfordshire
WHAT IS MICROBLADING?
Microblading is a semi-permanent brow tattoo performed with a small handheld tool, using a feather stroke technique to produce the appearance of fuller eyebrows or to enhance the natural features of the face. Unlike body tatooing, microblading is a much more subtle type of cosmetic tattoo using pigments rather than ink. Microblading fades naturally which is important as our faces continue to age and brows can be reshaped as desired over years to reflect changing style and preference.
Charlotte Chenery is an expert in her field offering microblading and semi-permanent make up at our Thame clinic.
Charlotte only uses high quality pigments by US brow queen Tina Davies which are vegan and cruelty free.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT MICROBLADING IN OXFORDSHIRE
HOW LONG DOES MICROBLADING LAST?
The treatment is considered semi-permanent, most people will require a top up's every 1-2 years to maintain shape, colour, and detail. The frequency of top up's depends on various factors such as;
Your skin type: if you have natural oily skin pigment will fade faster
Pigment color used: lighter pigments typically fade faster
Sun exposure: if you're a sun lover, over exposure to the sun can cause fading
Use of anti-aging products: retinols and AHA/BHA's which encourage skin cell turnover will cause faster fading
IS MICROBLADING PAINFUL?
We use a numbing cream at our Oxfordshire clinic to ensure any discomfort is minimised. The treatment itself should not be painful.
HOW LONG WILL MY APPOINTMENT BE?
Before any treatment can take place, you'll need to have a 30 minute consultation with our microblading specialist, to discuss your brow shape and the type of brows you would like.
Your actual treatment appointment will take around and hour and a half.
During your treatment appointment most of the time will be spent measuring and drawing on a symmetrical set of brows and ensuring you are happy with the shape and color. The procedure itself takes around 45 minutes.
After your initial treatment, you'll need a touch up appointment 6 weeks after your actual appointment. This is because the original treatment always fades and touch up's are needed. A touch-up appointment takes around 60 minutes.
IS MY TOUCH UP APPOINTMENT INCLUDED IN MY TREATMENT COST?
Yes the touch up appointment is included in the treatment cost. One touch-up is included as it enables your specialist to make any tweaks you may need.
CAN I EXERCISE AFTER MY MICROBLADING TREATMENT
You must avoid working out for 7 days following your microblading appointment. Light exercising is allowed (minimal sweating), but you must clean the tattooed area with lukewarm water as soon as you are done exercising. The salt in sweat will fade the pigment very quickly and give poor results.
CAN I HAVE MICROBLADING IF I AM PREGNANT
As a responsible clinic, we are unable to offer microblading treatment to pregnant women, for your safety.
PRODUCTS AND EQUIPMENT
To ensure the highest quality of safety, all of our tools are single use only. We only use high quality professional pigments by US microblading guru Tina Davies which are vegan and cruelty free. Our blades, hand tools, wipes, and any other product used during the procedure are disposed of in our clinical waste after each appointment, giving you peace of mind.
WHAT SHOULD I DO BEFORE MY BROW MICROBLADING PROCEDURE?
If you have an ideal shape and colour in mind, bring a few reference photos with you to your appointment.
You may fill in your eyebrows as you normally would so we can take into consideration the shape you desire.
If you regularly get your eyebrows shaped, waxed, threaded or tinted, we ask you to do this 3 days before your appointment.
If you are on an acne treatment like Roaccutane, you must wait at least one year before considering this procedure.
If you use Retinol you much stop using this 2 weeks prior to your appointment and refrain from using it 2 weeks after your appointment.
If you have regular anti-wrinkle toxin injections you should have this done no later than 2 weeks before your appointment. This is to ensure we can make your brows as symmetrical as possible.
Chemical peels should be done at least 4 weeks prior to your appointment.
We are unable to treat you if you have sunburn, so if you have a holiday planned please factor that in before booking your appointment. It is important to avoid sun exposure for 14 days after your treatment, so if you are booking a holiday please bear that in mind.
Avoid alcohol, caffeine, ibuprofen, fish oil, vitamin E, or any blood thinning medication 24 hours prior to your appointment.
IMPORTANT THINGS TO CONSIDER WITH MICROBLADING
After treatment, the microbladed area will appear to be darker and bolder in colour and more sharply defined. This will last 3-4 days. Don't panic! This is completely normal.
You may experience swelling and redness but this is minimal and will disappear within 24-48 hours. In some cases, it may last around the eyebrow area for up to 3 days and may feel slightly sore but not uncomfortable.
It will take around 6-8 weeks for your microbladed area to heal, by which you will be able to see the true color of your brows. During this process, the pigment will soften and lighten.
Be patient, even if you feel your brows are too light as your skin is still regenerating and naturally exfoliating. It will take at least 6 weeks for the true colour to be revealed. For this reason you can only have a touch up appointment after 6 weeks! The final result will be 30% lighter than the colour your brows looked immediately after your treatment.
MICROBLADING AFTERCARE ADVICE
Always wash your hands thoroughly before touching the treated area.
Keep the area clean by rinsing with lukewarm water and patting dry with a disposable paper towel morning and evening or as directed by your microblading specialist. Apply thin layer of the after care ointment provided using a disposable cotton bud or similar.
As the healing process begins it is important that you do not pick or scratch the area. Let any dry or flaky skin fall off naturally. If you pick the skin flakes off this can cause scarring and you may lose pigment. Once the flakes have fallen off, a new skin layer will cover the hair strokes. This will take up to 2 weeks, you will start to notice the strokes slowly appearing at a lighter shade.
Avoid working out for 7 days after your appointment. It's fine to take light exercise but the gym should be avoided if your are likely to sweat during exercise as the salt in your sweat can fade the pigment and will give suboptimal results.
If you have treatment in the summer when there is a risk of direct sun exposure, we recommend you wear a hat for the first 2 weeks.
Avoid applying make-up to the microbladed area for the first 14 days after treatment.
Do no swim or take part in any activities which require your face to be under water as this can affect the results. When bathing or showing, do not allow your face to be immersed in water for long periods of time.
